Why skulls?

Skulls are a constant inspiration for our brand, and many people still associate them to danger, death and evil. But they have many meanings for different people, cultures and religions.

The skull has been an inspiration for many artists, designers and architects over the centuries. From the Skull Chapel in Poland, the Sedlec Ossuary in the Czech Republic to Paul Cezanne, Andy Warhol, Damien Hurst and Alexander McQueen.

But what are the other meanings of the skull?

The human skull is very familiar and easily recognised. It's the simplest representation of the human. In some cultures, it represents the equality of all humans.

It also serves as a reminder of the mortality and the inevitability of death. A reminder to live life to it's fullest.

Other meanings across cultures and religions are also:

  • Loyalty and allegiance.
  • Concept of emptiness. (Buddhism)
  • Transformation and change.
  • Symbol of wealth, power, strength and protection.

What is the meaning of the skull for you?
